The apple on the tree,
The serpent from the sea,
The beautiful Eve,
And me.
Listening to the hissing,
Kissing,
Tempted to cheat,
Consumed in a mouthful,
An obsession needing to be fed.
But the fruit’s bittersweet,
Not good to eat,
Our slippery friend,
One step ahead.
To have avoided this fate,
Though now it’s too late,
What we should have done,
Was kill the fucking snake.
Love the big build up to a perfect ending!!!!
Ha, thanks. I didn’t even know the end when I started writing it – but it just came together pretty quickly. Only took 5 mins to write.
Impressive!
Oh, I like this, darling! More excerpts, please!
Thank you! There are a few excerpts up on my blog now… but this one is pretty different from the rest. Feel free to take a stroll through the others…
Unexpected. I like.
Thanks. Yeah, I’ve thrown some different styles in to the novel in small chunks like this. Glad you like it!
Seems i’m not the first, but brilliantly unexpected! Bravo!
Thanks John. Glad you like it. A change from the norm can be a good thing 😉
Clever! And well done!!! I came here to let you know that I have nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award. I must have missed this on my reader. I am glad that I caught it here!!! 🙂
Wow- thanks so much! I’ll stop by your blog later to check it out!
And that’s weird about the Reader. I think that’s been happening a lot over the last couple of weeks – and my site views have gone down at the same time. I might get in touch with the WordPress folk to see what’s going on…
Sorry…I meant that I only read my reader at random…so I don’t catch everything that goes through! 🙂
Love the last line!
Thank you very much!
Nice! Even biblical hindsight is 20-20.
Ha, thanks Eric. And yes a bit of a biblical re-write there… but I think artistic license is allowed.
