Stevehi mentioned this the other day… I have a feeling that a lot of people don’t know that they need to manually create a link to their blog on their Gravatar profile. If you ‘like’ a post but you haven’t created a link on your Gravatar, then there’s no way for that blogger (or anyone else) to find your blog.
So, this is how you do it: it’s possible that I’m complicating the process – but this works:
Go to your Reader page and hover over your little Gravatar image in the top right of the screen and click on ‘Settings‘. On the next page, click ‘Public Profile‘ on the right hand side and then click ‘Your Profile‘. From there you go to ‘My Account‘ in the top right and select ‘Edit My Profile‘. Phew. It’s from here that you can add a link to your blog under either/both of Verified Services or My Links.
Maybe I’ve got it wrong and bloggers are intentionally not linking to their blogs?
Anyway, just thought I’d throw that out there. Normal service will be resumed either later today or tomorrow… whenever I get round to writing something… it’s in my head, I just need to form the idea in to sentences… reasonably coherent sentences…
Amen to this post. It gets frustrating when you want to check out the people who liked your page but can’t find their site.
Yeah, I know it’s frustrating. I genuinely think it’s just that most people don’t realise that they have to add it themselves. Spread the word!
Thank for the reminder. – John
You’re welcome!
Made the change. Thanks again
Agree. I like when people add their link to their gravatar page. I just updated mine so it would include it.
Excellent!
Thank you for writing about this. I used to try to figure out what their blog url might be, based on their username, but it doesn’t always work, of course, and it takes a bit more time than just clicking a link.
Yup, we need to spread the word! It’s just much better for everyone if we can find each other’s blogs.
Reblogged this on Betty Generic and commented:
I completely agree with this blogger. Why are people not adding links to the gravatar, but I also occasionally read post that say why is everyone following and liking me? are you stalking me? Okay if you are one of those people maybe no. I on the other hand write to be read, that is why I use this platform and not a notebook under my mattress, and links are really helpful for that.

Another way, Betty…on the top left side of your dashboard, there the circled WordPress W,
click that…drop down to Notifications…voila!
Yup. Really, really good point.
Thanks for this. I’m fairly new to blogging and tips like this are really helpful.
Glad to have helped! At least half of the profiles I click on don’t link to their blog…
Thank you for your tips 🙂
You’re welcome!
Thanks for this! now my blog’s not a dead end, at least not in the technological sense. Much appreciated.
No worries! So many people don’t link to their blog… so spread the word to anyone you think needs the advice…
This post should be “Freshly Pressed.” It took me quite a while to realize that my gravitar didn’t autolink back to my blog. I think this needs to be made a bit more obvious in the WordPress instructions. (at least more obvious to me lol)
Thanks. And I know – it’s so frustrating that it isn’t more clear. So many bloggers are missing out on having their blogs read.

Thanks for walking me through that – I was informed that mine wasn’t linking back only the other day, but until now I didn’t know how to fix that. Nice job! 😀
Ha, no problem. Glad it helped. They don’t tell you that you need to do it when you first sign-up – so it’s missing from so many people’s gravatars and they don’t even know.
Oh, and pop back here later – I’m just finishing off a post that’s actually about film… despite being a complete film nerd, I’ve never actually written about it before. Would be cool to see what you think.
Will do!

Good post buddy, a simple thing really that people are missing out on (man I hope mine works after saying this!). Well played for helping people 🙂
Thanks Tyson. It’s the first time I’ve posted something that might actually be helpful (!) – I couldn’t believe how many gravatars don’t link to blogs. People just don’t know that they need to do it.
On another note, despite being a film nerd, I’d never written about films until today. It’s tough! Would really appreciate your opinion on my post… please be gentle…
Haha, I’ll take a look. I’m always respectful, none of us are experts 🙂
Good Call John, always frustrates me to read a smart comment and when i go to check out the person who posted it there is no link.
It’s ok, you can call me John even though my name’s Mark 😉
Did you see my Paul Thomas Anderson post? I was trying not to make it too pretentious… but I may have failed!
oppps sorry dude that will be easy for me to remember as that is my brothers name as well 😉
haha, no worries
Nice tip!
That’s the one! Ha.
But thanks!
Brilliant advice. And on that note, I was going to tweet this post out, but you don’t have any share buttons – or none that I could see – on your post.
Thanks. And that’s weird – a couple of people have already re-blogged it. I’ll go and take a look…
I’ve just checked and the share buttons are there – just above the ‘like’ button… can you not see it? I’ll have to look in to that.
Thank you for the information, Mark! I do not have a Gravatar profile! LOL Now I will have to figure out how to do that! But I love learning and this certainly keeps my brain in gear! Thank you again!
You’re welcome!
I’m new to blogging and never knew this—thanks so much!
Well I’m glad I helped then! It’s amazing how many people don’t know about it… I only worked it out myself by clicking on people’s profiles who had liked my blog.

Hi ,
I am actually gmail-blogger users, and Gravatar doesn’t work for gmail service,
And normally, Gravatar photos are bigger then the photos of this comments section?
Why yours are smaller ?
