I’m just about to leave to catch a train to not-so-sunny Devon for a writing retreat hosted by the excellent Urban Writers’ Retreat.
I did exactly the same last year (that’s when these photos were taken) and it was the thing that really kick-started my writing: three or four days with a few like-minded souls in the British countryside, with nothing to do but write and go for the odd walk.
I’m expecting to get a lot done, meet some lovely people and generally have a great time.
Wahoo!
Enjoy the fun and the fresh air. What constitutes an odd walk?
Ha. I think that one is lost in translation… the ‘occasional’ walk may make more sense!
I thought so, but I’m never sure. For all I know, you could be goofing off with making odd types of walks. Writers aren’t exactly normal. 😉
If I wasn’t on a train right now, I’d probably post a link to Monty Python’s ministry of silly walks. Or something equally British.
Don’t worry. Already watched it on Youtube when I read your post. 🙂
Oh. I’m infinitely jealous.
Next time, you’re invited.
I accept those sort of invitations, so be careful : )
After your last poem, I’ll be more than careful.
No fear.
Ahh! I wish that I could come to that sort of retreat! Have fun! 🙂
Thanks! Yeah, it’s a real treat.
I am completely envious, but also utterly thrilled for you!!! Enjoy and I hope you get the most of it…hope to hear about it on your return. ENJOY!!! xo Laura
Yeah, it’s all about the envy 😉 Ha. But thanks, it should be fun.
Well you accomplished inspired envy 😉 But I hope you have a wonderful time…sounds amazing.
Have an amazing time:)
Thanks. On the train now… an hour to go…
–jealous me–
Happy for you! It looks like you’re in for some wonderful and relaxing fun.
Well, I’m here. And already happy!
That sounds great! Wish I could go there to finish my screenplay…
Ha. Judging by all the comments, the next time I’m planning a trip, I’m going to have to let everyone know and we can make it a bloggers retreat!
Not to mention the perfect opportunity to grow your sideshow-worthy beard. Seriously, though, have fun. I am jealous
This is where the beard really comes in to it’s own.
I expect you to come out of the retreat with a fantastic beard and writing to match.
This sounds wonderful! Officially jealous.
Yep. I’m officially loving it!
Love Devon 🙂 whereabouts are you heading? enjoy the fresh air !
Me too! Do you know it well? We’re in a tiny village in the hills called Hennock, about ten miles inland from Newton Abbot.
I know the south (Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Totnes) – i’ve not been to Hennock but it looks lovely and remote 🙂 Do you know Devon well?
I actually don’t know Devon at all… I’ve just been here twice now for the writing retreats. I really do need to see more of this part of the country.
You lucky, lucky sod!
Ha, it certainly feels that way at the moment. I’ve written a huge amount in the last two days and am spaced out in the best of ways.
I can appreciate that sentiment. The scenery looks gorgeous. Enjoy.
This sounds great. I hope you had a great trip. I need something like this.
Yeah, it was great. It’s a bit of a luxury but so worthwhile.
